Elite Performance \ Balanced Lifestyle

Dr. Oliver “Ben” Conmy is a sport/performance psychologist focused on elite youth athletes. He has 20+ years of applied real world experience across a multitude of arenas.

Ben is a leading expert in the skills, habits, and applied practices necessary to perform at the highest levels consistently. He has worked with a diverse range of competitors and performers, including PGA Tour winners, Olympic medalists, tennis champions (NCAA and ATP), NFL/NBA/MLB players, professional soccer players (EPL/MLS), UFC champions, corporate CEOs, and a World Series of Poker winner.

After many years working with professional athletes and most recently in a DI Collegiate setting, Ben realized that the mental skills necessary for athletes at the highest level were sorely lacking at the youth level. Many of his collegiate athletes (including eventual NFL and NBA players) had never encountered sport psychology or any derivative before competing at the extremely challenging Division 1 level. Often the stress of competition at this level coupled with burnout from a lifetime playing their sport is the end of an athlete’s career prematurely simply because no coping strategies were in place before they were needed.

Ben’s goal now is to teach and facilitate the varying toolkits that will become prerequisites in the majority of sports as elite youth athletes progress through their sports career.

Ben’s dissertation titled Trash Talk in a Competitive Setting: Impact on Self-Efficacy, Affect, And Performance was the first study of its kind in the sport psychology literature.
